Essential now ownership of nothing

Nothingaka Nothing Technologies, now owns Essential, the once-beloved telephone company that could have been something very special had it not been for a lot of misconduct against founder Andy Rubin. Now that we’ve got all that behind us and Essential has essentially done nothing for the past few years, OnePlus co-founder Carl Pei has acquired all rights to Essential’s full range of intellectual properties, including logos, trademarks and patents.

It’s not clear yet why this happened, but it’s suspected that nothing wanted Essential’s patent portfolio, reportedly a few things related to digital voice support. We’re not sure how that plays into Nothing’s headphone movement yet, and maybe not at all, but we’ll have to remain patient to see what comes of this.

We are very curious how much this purchase has cost Nothing. It couldn’t have been too much, right?
