Brunch, the food that fits between breakfast and lunch, is becoming increasingly popular in the Dominican Republic and an example of this is that this Valentine’s Day, since 8:00 am, restaurants are hosting couples, friends and family. .
Listín Diario took a tour of a restaurant in the capital and by mid-morning couples were observed on the terraces of these shared places, but despite the fact that February 14 is Valentine’s Day, friends and families have also taken it as an excuse to leave the house.
This is the case of a woman who said she was a journalist for the evening media, who found the Listín Diario in one of the restaurants visited. She walked with her two sons and a sister.
The four looked very happy and said to this medium, “We needed a pretext to go out. We are family. We are in love with ourselves. Today we are going out to conquer the world ”.
When they asked for permission to be photographed, they fixed themselves, took a pose and one of them replied with a laugh “we are legal, all the photos they want.” This family had arrived at this restaurant at 10am and were sitting on the terrace.
At a distance of about 10 meters, some friends who had gone to the place shared to take advantage of the holiday. The young women had painted red hearts on their nails.
“Although I’m going to tell you something, it’s a two in one because we’re here for Valentine’s Day, but if we didn’t, we would have come because we work a lot during the week,” one of them said. while she was carrying her daughter.
A restaurant next door, on the terrace, was a man with his children and grandchildren. He stressed that he was there because he wanted to go out and didn’t even know it was this Sunday, February 14th.
One of the restaurant’s waitresses commented that the day was “good” at the restaurant as customers come and go and stand “upside down” to serve them, thanking them for being “full”.
Tables taken
The Listín Diario team visited another restaurant, where the person who wrote had called on Friday to make a reservation and couldn’t because from 7:00 am to 5:00 pm everything was already full for this Sunday. It was no less.
Here, where a special brunch menu was being prepared for the Day of Love and Friendship, there were a few empty tables at 10:45 AM. The manager of the place noted that between 1:00 am and 3:00 pm all tables would be occupied.
The parking attendant at this restaurant confirmed that the caretaker had previously informed him that a large flow of customers was expected after 12:30 pm.
While he was talking to Listín, a young woman got out of the vehicle and told this medium that she would be meeting four other friends to celebrate their friendship. She arrived at the place with a cake in the shape of a heart and said “Happy Valentine’s Day”.
The site manager, while quickly collecting some bills, added that the restaurant started to fill up at 10 a.m. and that the reserved tables are for couples and groups of people.
Passing a renowned restaurant on Lope de Vega Avenue, it was noted that all the tables on the terrace were occupied by couples, both young and old. Only one table was occupied by a family group.
Eddy, the parking lot of a nearby restaurant, showed that he was happy that more people are visiting these places for Valentine’s Day, as they leave their tips for their food and the passage.
