Referees steal the show in Guard1anes 2021 with controversies, firings and errors

Luis Enrique Santander and Adalid Maganda, among the most important, pointed out their mistakes in just six days of Liga MX

The show in Guard1anes 2021 will be paid for by the Refereeing Commission of the Mexican Football AssociationGiven the lack of goalscorers and a good performance of the teams on the field, the whistlers have attracted more attention due to their failures or controversies, than the rest of those who form in Liga MX.

The last to stand in the eyes of social networks and public opinion was Luis Enrique Santander, the central one destroyed a goal for Pumas in the Nemesio Díez stadium, due to a misplaced course, and that that decision ultimately caused the college students’ defeat to Toluca, 1-0.

The case of Luis Enrique Santander is hardly the top of the mountain, as behind that mistake is the case of Adalid Maganda, which still reverberates in the corridors of the refereeing committee as the whistler denounces racism as the cause of his dismissal and even threatens to prevent Mexico from hosting the 2026 World Cup.

Champion Maganda herself denounced refereeing parties, despite the pandemic, and even assured that there are preferences within the refereeing committee, charged with appointing the whistlers every week. “There is a group, they are called ‘los mamaditos'”.

These scandals are also preceded by the departure of Arturo Ángeles, responsible for entering the MX League with the VAR, and now replaced by Mauricio Morales, as referee instructor. Morales is charged as one of those who organizes the parties among the referees.

Mexican arbitration also drew attention when they reportedly took their physical tests at Ciudad Universitaria, regardless of Mexico City being on a red light. Also, a group of whistlers, in smaller units, denounced having to pay for their own PCR tests if they wanted to continue their profession.

In Guard1anes 2021, the referees will steal the show in the absence of an excellent figure or high-level teams.
