Microsoft is releasing the cumulative update KB4023057 for Windows 10 to improve the reliability of Windows Update

Microsoft is pushing Windows 10 cumulative update KB4023057 to all supported editions of Windows 10.

The software is sort of a cleaning patch that Microsoft previously pushed in anticipation of a larger update rollout in the near future, and it does some work to make it more likely that the larger service update will roll out more smoothly.

The patch performs the following actions:

In this case, KB4023057 prepares the way for the rollout of Windows 10 version 21H1, expected in February or March 2021. That update brings cosmetic improvements to Windows 10 and brings some settings that are still in the Control Panel in the Modern Settings app, among other improvements.

KB4023057 is a mandatory update with no known issues and is rolling out gradually to all supported Windows 10 users.
