ERCOT puts all statewide utilities on standby for rolling power outages on weekends

The Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT) manages planning on an electrical grid that carries 90 percent of Texas’s load.

Fannin County, Texas – Fannin County Electric Cooperative is informing its members that ERCOT (Electric Reliability Council of Texas) has put all utilities in the state on standby for rolling power outages over the weekend due to predicted frigid temperatures.

When ERCOT orders Fannin County Electric Cooperative to initiate the power outage, Co-op personnel will have one hour from the time of notification to reduce the electrical load across various parts of the system in 15 minute increments, at intervals of 2-3 hours.

Fannin County Electric Cooperative will update his Facebook page with a post if the Co-op is forced to take action.

Fannin County Electric Cooperative asks that all members be as conservative as possible during this cold weather to avoid the need for power outages.
