In her star role on Sunday’s season premiere of ‘American Idol’, Claudia Conway declares on social media that she is officially out of the shadow of her famous – and famously arguing – parents.
The 16-year-old daughter of Donald Trump adviser Kellyanne Conway and conservative but anti-Trump attorney George Conway describe her upbringing to the show’s judges in a newly released sneak-peak video obtained by People magazine.
“I’m Claudia Conway,” she tells Judges Katy Perry, Luke Bryan and Lionel Richie.
‘My mom is Kellyanne Conway. She worked for Donald Trump. And my dad is George Conway. He was working against Donald Trump.
“It’s a lot, but I agree that I disagree with my mom and dad,” she says in the video clip.
“You probably know me as a 15-year-old emancipation girl or that blonde woman from Fox News’ daughter,” Claudia says in a home video. “I’m a little bit more than that.”
She adds, “When your mom works for the president of the United States, who you don’t agree with at all, that’s difficult.”
She adds: “Most of my life my feelings were suppressed. So then I got into social media and I was like, ‘Well yeah. Now my voice is heard. “
Claudia concludes, “The Internet can be a very, very dark place, but when life goes downhill, I have my music. Now I want to get out of the controversy, get out of the drama and let people know that I am a singer and this is what I want to do. “
In November, Claudia hinted that she was auditioning for the reality show.
That was months before police showed up at her family’s home in Alpine, New Jersey, prompted by the teen who posted a series of videos claiming her mother abused Kellyanne, 54, and that she also accidentally took a topless photo of placed her.
Despite the drama, the Conways have supported their daughter’s singing ambitions, with George Conway joining Claudia at her audition last year.
