Child falls from tree in Eling’s Park

At approximately 10:56 a.m. today, the Santa Barbara Police Department’s Combined Communications Center was alerted to a child who had fallen from a tree in Elings Park.

The report to the responding fire department was that a child fell about 7 feet from a tree in Elings Park. The patient was on a path near the main parking lot.

A fire prevention inspector and AMR ambulance crew arrived at the patient and provided an updated location with the best access from Las Positas and Jerry Harwin Parkway. Two firefighters arrived and helped pack patients.

It was later determined that the patient had fallen about 30 feet to the ground. She hit several large branches as she fell to the ground. Her injuries appeared moderate and she was transported to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital.
