Video shows Texas mom tackling a man accused of peeking through her daughter’s window

A dramatic video shows a Texas woman tackling a man accused of peeking into her teenage daughter’s bedroom window. CBS DFW reports that a police dashcam caught the moment mother Phyllis Pena tackled the man who allegedly watched her 15-year-old daughter outside her home.

“I thought I could at least do it, if I took him down, tripped him up, whatever, they’d have a chance to catch up,” Pena said. “The first instinct was to make sure he didn’t go any further.”

Lake Jackson Police

Lake Jackson police said officers were called to the house on the morning of Jan. 31 after receiving a report from “ a suspicious man in the area who looked into a window of a house. ”

Officers said a man who fit the description tried to run when he saw them. But the suspect, later identified as 19-year-old Zane Hawkins, was tackled by Pena. Her daughter then ran to him and helped hold the suspect until officers caught up with him.

After the suspect was taken into custody, officers told the mother she made a “pretty good tackle”.

The officer gave me a fist and said, Hey, I heard that the Texans are looking for a new linebacker, ” said Pena.

Hawkins was put in prison and is charged with, among other things, possession of a controlled substance, evading arrest and resisting arrest.
