Joe Biden’s immigration reform plan is about to be presented in both houses of Congress, according to a document to which Univision Noticias has access.
The project, as expected by the White House last January, includes a regulated path to citizenship for the majority of the 11 million undocumented migrants living in the country, as well as a border security plan dubbed ‘smart’.
Democratic sources said the deadline to get signatures from lawmakers sponsoring the bill will remain open until Feb. 15.
In late January, Senator Bob Menendez, D-New Jersey, said the bill would be delivered to the Senate in late February.
Congressman Linda Sánchez, a California Democrat, will be the legislature to present the plan to the House of Representatives.
These are the keys to Biden’s immigration reform bill:
Note: To be approved, the plan is required 218 votes in the House of Representatives (Democrats have 221) and 60 in the Senate (where both parties have 50).
