While nothing has been officially established during the fight, UFC President Dana White confirmed on Friday that Bobby Green was collapsing backstage following the UFC 258 weigh-in.
Green should play Jim Miller on the UFC 258 main card in Las Vegas on Saturday.
Miller easily made weight at the start of the two-hour UFC 258 weigh window, but Green was the last fighter on the scale with 15 minutes to go. He made weight, but then didn’t show up for the UFC 258 face-offs when the main card fighters started taking the stage.
After the confrontations, White hung around answering questions from reporters in his typical UFC pay-per-view post-weigh scrum, where he confirmed that Green had collapsed. However, he did not provide an update on the status of the fight, as Green was still pending.
“Bobby Green just collapsed there. Doctors look at him. They’re trying to rehydrate him now, ”White said.
He believed it was most likely the weight reduction that caused Green to collapse, but did not want to speak out of turn without first consulting the medical team.
“Gotta be (the weight cut), but don’t quote me on that.”
