The Boston Celtics were able to surprise everyone on the NBA scholarship deadline and be one of the biggest buyers. After starting the season with championship ambitions, the Celtics have a slow start, but they are led by their stars. The Orlando Magic could have some pieces that intrigue Boston.
Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum both average more than 26 points per game. Outside of the dynamic duo, the Celtics lack depth all over the floor. They entered the low season with a downlow, but made few moves to improve the frontcourt.
Tristan Thompson was their free agent’s signing. Thompson and Daniel Theis were disappointing to start the season. Boston will welcome help wherever they can get it.
The Magic is a team that could help. They come off two consecutive performances after the season, but they were very low seeds. This has affected their ability to advance in the playoffs. Markelle Fultz started showing signs of late, but will miss the rest of the year with a torn ACL.
The magic has a strong core that starts with Nikola Vucevic. He’s a versatile big man on both ends of the floor and the Magic could watch to build around him. This could be to get rid of some of their other big names. At some point, Orlando will have to decide which direction they want to go.
Here’s a deal that could be struck between the Orlando Magic and Boston Celtics during the NBA trade deadline.
