Polestar will stop production of its stunning hybrid at the end of 2021

The Polestar 1 Hybrid GT provided a lot of auto show buzz and even some lust, thanks to its stunning looks, 619 horsepower, and respectable 60-mile battery range. However, it was only ever intended as a halo vehicle to launch the brand and pave the way for the Polestar 2 and other electric vehicles. To this end, it is now entering its final production run.

Polestar had always planned to make just 1,500 copies of the Polestar 1, and that’s it. Most of these have been allocated to Europe and other regions, and accordingly the US market will only get 125 more from the final batch.

Polestar started out as Volvo’s performance brand and the design of the Polestar 1 is actually based on the Volvo Concept CoupĂ© from 2013. With all that power and a sleek carbon fiber housing, it can reach 60 km / h from a standstill in just 4.2 seconds. At the same time, the 34 kWh battery allows you to go to work or go shopping without using a drop of gas.

Polestar will now only produce electric cars, so the Polestar 1 will be a unique model in the line-up. If you want to buy one, you can queue up on the company’s website, provided you are willing to pay $ 156,500. Based on its rarity, the Polestar 1 will likely retain that value as a collector’s car, and then some.
