Insomniac Games notes that this is a great place to start for the Ratchet & Clank franchise as it will be a ‘standalone storyline’, but it will reward fans of the series that began on PS2 in 2002 with deeper layers of connection to previous games. “
Insomniac also revealed Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart’s box art, key art, pre-order bonuses and the digital deluxe edition, all of which can be seen below.
Pre-orders have officially opened for Rift Apart, and those who do will unlock the Carbonox armor from Ratchet & Clank: Going Commando from 2003, all updated with “high-definition materials, light responses, and ray-traced reflections.” Those who pre-order the game will also receive an early unlock of the Pixelizer weapon, the retro blaster from 2016’s Ratchet & Clank.
The Digital Deluxe Edition, which costs $ 79.99, gives players five additional armor sets, 20 Raritanium for upgrading weapons and a sticker pack to use in Ratchet & Clank’s first-ever photo mode. Furthermore, a digital art book and a digital soundtrack are also included.
Participating retailers in the US and Canada will also have a special physical launch edition of Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart retailing for $ 69.99 USD / $ 89.99 CAD. This contains a code for the above pre-order bonuses.Insomniac also teased that while it is not yet ready to reveal the new playable Lombax’s name that was previously teased, it states that we should “stay there” and that we will be “feeling rosy soon”.
Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart was announced at the PS5 reveal event in June 2020. It promised that “Players will seamlessly travel through different dimensions in the middle of the game thanks to the PS5’s super-fast SSD. The DualSense wireless controller brings battles to life , with haptic feedback and the adaptive triggers that add powerful sensations that increase combat immersion. ”
