Donny Neyra found his place in the world in that Apertura of 2008, of which he was the highest figure Sports University and raised the title because it was “adopted” by Ricardo Gareca, the coach now of the peruvian team, who is on his birthday and of which the ‘bottle’ always fondly remembers and has no qualms about saying that he considers him a father. The former cream flyer took time to chat and talk to EL BOCĂ“N about his gift, his anecdotes with Ricardo Gareca, his feelings for Christian Cueva and even a joke.

What is Ricardo Gareca to you?

To me, he is a person that I appreciate, admire, respect, some virtues. He is my old man, my father, an important person in my life.

You were the Riquelme of Ate …

That he was joking with Willy Rivas, Charra. He left. Good relationship with Ricardo, Bonillo, there is always love.

What about Gareca’s appearance?

(laughs) He looked like a castaway, my dear old man, he wanted to go unnoticed with his size. He was always shaved.

Do you have another “brother” like Cueva because of how cocky?

Cueva is my younger brother. Ricardo is very fond of Christian, he is both. We get along well, we have mutual friends, we have a video call. I am happy that he is happy in a team, the rest will come alone.
