UPDATING: PlayStation Network services have been backed up and should work as intended. If you’re still having problems, check this page here.
ORIGINAL: PlayStation Network, also known as PSN, does not work on PS4 and PS5. At the time of writing this, the servers went down minutes ago and at the moment all PlayStation platforms are affected as are all other related services, such as PlayStation Plus. The news was first shared by the official Fortnite Twitter account status after players started reporting en masse that they could not access the free-to-play Battle Royale game on PlayStation platforms. Since then, the official PlayStation Status website has confirmed that every aspect of PSN, except PlayStation Video, is not working or experiencing issues.
At the time of publication, it is unclear which regions are affected. Furthermore, it is unclear how long PlayStation players can expect services to be unavailable. That said, as long as the services are unavailable, PlayStation gamers are limited to offline and single player games.
Not only is it unclear how widespread the outage is and when a fix will be rolled out, but it’s unclear what is causing the problem in the first place. When PSN and other similar services like Xbox Live Gold go down, it’s usually due to server overload, which means servers usually run into problems on the weekends when everyone is playing.
PlayStation Network is currently experiencing an outage. While PlayStation is working on fixing this issue you can follow the status here: https://t.co/rNAFmWENN3

At the time of publication, details about the outage are sparse. That said, we’ll be sure to update the story as new and official details come in. Normally, Sony resolves these types of glitches very quickly, but there have been instances where PSN has been down and not working for hours. In other words, wait until tomorrow to access PlayStation Network.
