Rumor: Bears get “really impatient” with Eagles in Carson Wentz trade talks

Despite all the talk of a Carson Wentz deal taking “soon”, we have yet to see a deal coming.

So what does it matter?

All indications are that the Eagles have offers on the table, but they aren’t lucrative enough for Philly to pull the trigger. It looks like Howie Roseman is looking forward to the perfect offer.

But will that ever come? The Eagles may run the risk of wentz offers being taken off the table by waiting too long.

In that regard, Brandon Robinson, a Windy City Gridiron employee, recently appeared on The Bear Report Podcast to talk about the state of affairs with Wentz and the Bears.

So as far as I understand, the Bears made an offer that was bigger than what the Colts had already offered. The Bears had previously offered two 2’s so it was bigger than that. And they went back to the Colts, the Eagles did, and the Colts said they wouldn’t budge. And from what I understand, what the Colts had offered was somewhat similar to what the Bears had already offered, but maybe a little less. But the Eagles wanted Carson Wentz out of the NFC so badly that they could maybe take a little less. So what the Eagles have tried is they try to negotiate again and again [through] any reporter who wants to listen that they need more and they tell everyone two 1’s and that’s just not the case at all. And now the Bears are getting really impatientwhich I don’t blame them because they need to find out what they’re doing at quarterback and they can’t get to the start of free agency because of the salary cap and where it’s going to put them. They checked into Derek Carr, the Raiders want way too much. And so the Eagles are pretty much forced to give Carson to the Bears alonebut they want more, and I don’t blame them for wanting more. If I were the Eagles I’d stretch this out as far as I can, wait to see if Ryan Pace goes nuclear and eventually sends two 1s, but it’s an interesting predicament. ”

“I don’t think I’ve said this yet, and I want to include this: I think 100% [Nick] Foles will be in the deal because that’s an important part of the deal because Carson doesn’t want him in the same locker room. But what I expected is … if I had to place it now it would be next year’s first pick and this year’s third round. Or… the first of this year and the fourth of next year, but it depends on a certain number of games that Carson is playing. I don’t think the Bears will get anything from the Eagles, except maybe a sixth round pick next year or something very, very miniscule. I don’t think there will be any other Bears players involved. I don’t think there will be any other Eagles players involved. I have not heard about it [Zach] Ertz. I have from other people who have other sources on Ertz. But as far as I know I haven’t heard his name or any other players.

It’s hard to imagine the Eagles getting influence by waiting, as each passing day comes closer to $ 10 million of Wentz’s 2022 salary which will be fully guaranteed on March 19. At some point, the Eagles have to realize that the offers are not getting any better and they have to take the best and move on. It’s not like keeping Wentz a realistic option when it seems pretty obvious he doesn’t want to be in Philly.

A package such as the Bears’ 2022 First Round Pick, 2021 Third Round Pick, and Foles is a valuable offer. There is a good chance that next season will go bad in Chicago. The Eagles could pack the Bears’ pick and their own 2022 roster to trade in for a quarterback next year as Jalen Hurts struggles as a starter. Or just use the choices to build around him if he looks like the long-term answer.

In the meantime, it’s not just the Bears who are getting impatient. Everyone is eager to see what this seemingly inevitable deal looks like.
