The oldest European woman, almost 117 years old, is recovering from the covid in France

French nun Lucile Randon, known as Sister André and considered the surviving person in Europe, recovered from covid when she was two days away from her 117th birthday, local media reported.

Born in the town of Alés (south) on February 11, 1904, Randon tested positive for coronavirus on January 16 and was then placed in strict quarantine in the room she lives in the Sainte Catherine Labouré nursing home, located in Toulon, in the South of France.

“I didn’t even know I was infected,” the centenary celebrations told local newspaper Var Matin. A few weeks later the nun has already recovered.

A spokesman for the residence explained to the same newspaper that Sister André was not afraid of the virus, although she expressed concern about the health of the other residents.

“She was also concerned if her bedtime or dinner times changed because she was infected,” the spokesman added.

The nun is considered the second oldest verified living person in the world, just behind Japanese Kane Tanaka, born January 2, 1903.
