In a statement today on TwitterVersus Evil, the publisher of Pillars of Eternity’s Switch port, stated that the game would no longer receive patches as they have “reached a limit of what we can do with our updates.”
“[We] have exhausted the options left to us on the PC’s original regarding the limitations of the hardware we work with, ” Versus Evil said in the statement, referring to the Nintendo Switch. As some people have noted, the similar Divinity: Original Sin 2 works fine on console, so presumably there is something going on with the Pillars port that we are not familiar with.
The game will seemingly be left as it currently is, although that has many bugs, “like the Ranger pet not showing up,” the publisher admits. The game is still full price on the eShop, despite being 75% off on Steam, and Versus Evil notably didn’t offer refunds, even though the game has been released on Switch since 2019.
