DOJ asks Trump-era American lawyers to step down

According to a senior ministry official, the Justice Department will request US lawyers appointed by former President Donald Trump to resign.

However, the federal prosecutor overseeing the federal tax investigation involving Hunter Biden has been asked to remain on the job.

US attorney John Durham, who was appointed special counsel to investigate the origins of the Trump-Russia probe, will also remain in his post.

However, Durham is expected to resign from his other position as the US attorney in Connecticut.

The transition process of US attorneys is common between administrations.

It is expected to take several weeks for the few dozen remaining Trump-era appointees to leave and be replaced by President Joe Biden’s nominees.

A number of American lawyers elected by Trump have already left their office.
