HOUSTON – Shortstop Carlos Correa and the Houston Astros reached an agreement yesterday that will avoid salary arbitration hearings by reaching an agreement for one year and $ 11.7 million.
Correa had asked for $ 12.5 million, while the Astros offered $ 9.75 million.
The 26-year-old Puerto Rican was said to earn a salary of eight million dollars last year. This was reduced to $ 2,962,963, due to the breakdown due to the shortening of the campaign due to the pandemic.
In 56 games the previous season, Correa hit .264 with five home runs and 25 RBIs. In the postseason, his performance was remarkable, hitting .362, six homeruns and 17 RBI’s in 13 games.
