The 55th Super Bowl is upon us, and with it comes a host of inventive, hilarious, and sometimes bizarre TV commercials. A single 30-second TV spot during the Super Bowl can cost up to $ 5.6 million, and it’s no wonder why: A captive audience of snacking sports fans equals maximum viewing.
The 2021 Super Bowl looks significantly different from previous years, with mandatory mask wearing and a limited number of in-person visitors, but at least the ads were as numerous as ever. Below is a list of the 7 best Super Bowl LV commercials:
1. The Budweiser COVID-19 vaccine donation.
Okay, it’s not technically a traditional ad, but it’s powerful nonetheless; this year, Budweiser decided to completely sit out the Super Bowl ad race, and instead donated the money the company is said to have spent on COVID-19 vaccination awareness. Coke and Pepsi did the same thing, and we’re better off that.
2. Will Ferrell for GM.
Will Ferrell, Kenan Thompson, Awkwafina, and some light-hearted fun in Norway sting for no particular reason? We’re on board.
3. Drake for State Farm.
“Stand-ins have no rules,” Drake is asked to understand in this ad. Why is it so funny to see him in a signature red State Farm polo?
4. Lil Nas X for Logitech.
Nothing will ever beat Lil Nas X’s “Cool Ranch” ad from last year, but this Logitech ad – in which he’s wearing a truly stunning pink pajama set – is a close second.
5. Dan Levy for M & Ms.
Fresh from an excellent Saturday Night Live Hosting the show, Dan Levy brings his unstoppable charm to a TV spot that revolves around the power of excuses.
Bass Pro Shops for … outside?
“In these difficult times we need nature more than ever. We need nature to remind us that these challenges will pass like a sunrise or the turning of the tides, ”this ad reminds us all along with much-needed panoramas of the great outdoors.
Maya Rudolph for Klarna.
The only thing better than one Maya Rudolph is four Maya Rudolphs, which is exactly what we get in this eclectic ad (no less on horseback!)
