Galaxy Z Flip with broken screen, shattered back and camera lens destroyed is fully restored in latest video

Foldable smartphones are anything but durable. While manufacturers like Samsung are working to increase that number, it will be a while before we see devices with such a form factor have a higher tolerance. Models like the Galaxy Z Flip are not only easy to break, but also very expensive to fix, assuming you were unlucky with a broken screen or cracked glass. Fortunately, a YouTuber shows how easy it is to replace parts of a Galaxy Z Flip that are no longer usable.

YouTuber shows that with the right replacement parts ordered, it is rather easy to restore a foldable smartphone like the Galaxy Z Flip

Hugh Jeffreys has become a veteran of smartphone fixes and the video below may not be unlike any other recovery clip, it’s still a challenge considering he’s restoring the Galaxy Z Flip. The model he ordered has a screen that flickers so much you can’t see what’s on it, along with a cracked rear window, broken camera lens, and a non-working charging port.

Rumor has it that Samsung is testing 8K 60FPS video on Galaxy S22 but still overheating issues

After hours of searching, Hugh Jeffreys came across the replacement part for the display and glass back. However, he would have to remove every part of the broken Galaxy Z Flip and transfer it to the new chassis. If you watch the video you will find that it is no small feat as a large number of ribbon cables and glue make it quite difficult to remove all parts easily.

Luckily, Hugh Jeffreys has enough experience to see through his journey while replacing the charging port at the same time. Below is the cost breakdown of the replacement parts, and the astute among you would probably have guessed that the most expensive piece was the display.

  • Charging port – A $ 27
  • Back panel – A $ 84
  • Rendering – A $ 895
  • Shipping Cost – A $ 27
  • Total – A $ 1033 ($ 760 USD)

Hugh Jeffreys notes that it was a costly endeavor to replace the parts yourself and that Samsung offers maintenance that is cheaper in case you break your Galaxy Z Flip. However, in some regions, business repairs may not be accessible, which means that some of you will have to go the expensive route and have some experience in this field to do the restoration yourself.
