Mass under winter storm warning as sleet is expected to slow travel Sunday – Boston News, Weather, Sports

BOSTON (WHDH) – Another winter storm is expected to bring more snow to Massachusetts on Sunday, leading to difficult travel after some parts of the state were buried with more than 20 inches of fresh powder earlier this week.

A winter storm warning is in effect Sunday morning through Sunday evening in parts of the counties of Barnstable, Bristol, Dukes, Middlesex, Plymouth, Suffolk and Worcester.

According to 7Weather Chief Meteorologist Jeremy Reiner, the storm is expected to arrive between 8 and 10 a.m. It can potentially linger until 8pm before moving. While there are not expected to be high winds or heavy flooding, the sleet from the storm will make driving difficult, especially in the afternoon.

Heavy snowfall is possible in warning zones with accumulations of 4 to 8 inches possible, with the potential to fall 1 to 2 inches per hour after 9 a.m.

The south coast could see six to eight inches of snow, while Boston, Worcester County, the Metro West, the North Shore, and the Merrimack Valley could get four to six inches of snow.

Western Massachusetts is likely to get about 2 to 4 inches of snow.

Winds can blow up to 40 mph and travel can be very difficult during the storm.
