Ree Drummond recently had an unwanted guest make a cameo in her kitchen.
In the last episode of The Pioneer Woman, which aired Saturday, the television host’s kitchen was crashed into the kitchen by a rat, which kept interrupting the star demonstrating how to make a beer cheese bread bowl.
“I consider myself a pioneer on the Food Network. After all, I think I’m the only host on the network to have a large pack rat run through the kitchen while filming a cooking show,” Drummond, 52, wrote on Instagram alongside a excerpt from the episode.
“The (very) unwelcome visitor interrupted the shooting, and the screams (not just mine – right, Mauricio?) Were plentiful,” she added, shouting out daughter Alex’s fiancée, Mauricio Scott.
In the episode, Drummond is too busy cooking to notice when the rat first runs across the floor and doesn’t let out a big scream until after her family tells her what just happened.
“Are you serious?” she asked. “I can’t film, guys.”
Although Drummond eventually decided that the coast was clear enough to pick up where it left off, the episode was interrupted again when the rat made another startling appearance and ran across the floor to hide behind a trash can.
This time, Drummond called for reinforcements, and with the help of her crew, they were able to get the rat out safely.
As for how the guest got into her kitchen in the first place, Drummond related that the creature made its way through a hole left over from an earlier water leak.

While she may have gotten more in the kitchen than she expected, Drummond has had a lot to celebrate lately.
On Wednesday, she shared the exciting news that her foster son Jamar will be “officially signed to play football” at the University of Central Oklahoma in the fall of 2021.
“I am so proud of him and so grateful to his friends, coaches and community for their support in countless ways,” Drummond wrote alongside a photo of the pair.
“I am grateful to Jamar himself – his hard work, his dedication and his presence in our family,” Drummond continued in her position.
The Food Network star revealed last November that she and husband Ladd became foster parents a year and a half earlier.
“I never wanted to give Jamar more attention than he wanted or needed before he had a chance to feel at home and orientate around our house,” she explained in an excerpt from her book Frontier Follies.
