Mets offered Bauer more millions, but preferred Dodgers

This Friday afternoon, Trevor Bauer announced that he had accepted a deal with the Dodgers. The Cy Young of the National last year he is guaranteed for a minimum of two years with the “Blue and Whites” in exchange for US $ 85 million, plus an option in 2023 for an additional US $ 17. In total, he would make $ 102 for three years.

According to Jon Heyman of MLB Network, Mets reportedly offered Bauer a $ 105 million contract also for three years, however, the Californian declined and chose to accept Dodgers’ offer probably because of its proximity to his hometown, North Hollywood, California, and Los Angeles, which is about 30 minutes away by car.

The only difference between the two offers is that the Mets only guaranteed him $ 75 million in his first two seasons before a contract was released – 10 million less than what the Dodgers offered.

In this way, Trevor Bauer will participate in a rotation that will go from very good to really terrifying and powerful, arguably the strongest in the Major Leagues.
