20 years later, someone finally got the Super Smash Bros. Melee completed. (No, they are not that long.)
For anyone unfamiliar with Nintendo’s classic brawl, Melee’s credits are presented as a light gun-style shooting experience. Points are awarded for the number of names hit, with a total of 190 targets to hit.
So far no one has successfully included all 190 names and logos – but there has been a race recently to be the first, after Smash fan Nathaniel Bandy offered a bounty of $ 3000 to encourage someone to finally take the challenge .
As reported by Polygon, the challenge is now complete. Melee superfan Martin Zarate practiced 50 hours for the feat after seeing the money up for grabs.
Here’s a recording of his world record run, along with video evidence of him performing the feat on a GameCube pad. Some names require split-second responses, and it’s not until the last 190 in total are on the screen that Zarate responds, knowing his estate – and $ 3k – is safe.
A student, Zarate says the money will be spent on his tuition while he works to become a national park ranger.
