Demarcus Robinson, the Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver, was activated from the NFL’s reserve / COVID-19 list on Friday and will be available to play in Super Bowl LV, while Antonio Brown, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers receiver, officially is listed as doubtful for Sunday’s game.
Robinson practiced Friday with the Chiefs for the first time since being listed because he was close contact from someone who tested positive. He had to test negative for five days in a row before coming off the list and returning to practice.
He was third on the team with 45 receptions for 466 yards and three touchdowns this season. His return would be especially important to the Chiefs if Sammy Watkins, who is listed as questionable on the latest calf injury report, doesn’t play on Sunday.
The Chiefs also named tackle Eric Fisher (Achilles) and linebacker Willie Gay (knee / ankle) as out for the game.
Brown, meanwhile, was a full-fledged participant in Thursday and Friday workouts for the Buccaneers and showed no ill effects from increased workload, according to Friday’s practice pool report.
He sustained a knee injury in the wild card win over the New Orleans Saints and did not travel to Green Bay for the NFC Championship Game.
Buc’s tight end Cam Brate is also listed as questionable on the latest injury report. He contracted a back muscle on Thursday and missed Friday’s workout, although he was feeling better, a source told ESPN’s Adam Schefter. Brate is expected to play Sunday, barring unforeseen developments, a source told ESPN.
Safety Jordan Whitehead, who is struggling with a shoulder injury that took him out of the NFC Championship Game, lost his non-contact shirt on Friday. Rookie safety Antoine Winfield Jr., who didn’t play vs. Green Bay due to an ankle injury, was a full-fledged participant in Friday’s walk-through. Both players had been limited all week and have no injuries for Sunday.
