How to play Fuse in Apex Legends: skills, tips and more

Fuse joins Apex Legends in Season 8 to join Respawn’s ever-growing roster. To help you master this explosive loving cage fighter, we’ve put together a few tips and tricks that will put your enemies to flight.

Apex Legends’ big Update for Season 8 brought a new weapon, map changes, legendary magazines and the usual bug fixes and gameplay tweaks. Fuse is a cage-turned mercenary who likes to bombard his enemies with deadly explosives, leaving a wave of destruction in his wake.

Fuse is armed with a stackable grenade, passive, deadly cluster bomb, tactical and flaming ultimate that surrounds enemies. While these skills may seem simple enough, there are a number of tricks you can use to increase your lethality with Fuse.

How do you use the capabilities of Fuse?

Passive: Grenadier

Grenadier delivers a real explosive punch.

The Grenadier passive gives Fuse one extra grenade per inventory slot. This means that Fuse can contain 2x Thermite Grenades, 2x Frag Grenades, 2x Arc Stars per inventory slot. Not only does this give Fuse a lot of ammo for its launcher, it also provides plenty of opportunities for players to counter camping crews.

All grenades fired from Fuse’s grenade launcher will travel farther, faster, and more accurately than their thrown counterpart. As a result, you always want to loot grenades you find and use Fuse’s passive to force combat in built-up areas.

Tactical Skill: Knuckle cluster

Knuckle Cluster deals damage to multiple enemies.

The cage-turned mercenary has a taste for bloody brawls, but instead of using his fists, Fuse puts an explosive spin on his fights. When activated, Fuse’s Knuckle Cluster launcher will unleash a cluster bomb that continuously blows explosives from the sky upon impact.

Knuckle Cluster can be stuck to enemies and will deal AoE splash damage to anyone unlucky enough to get caught in the blast area. Like Fuse’s passive, Knuckle Cluster is great at destroying traps and ambushing camping teams.

Ultimate: The Motherlode

Despite its size, the Motherlode has quite a range.

Fuse’s Ultimate launches a bombardment that encircles a target area in a wall of flames, dealing damage over time and slowing players trapped in it. Despite the gun’s colossal size, the Motherlode can be fired up to 200 meters away, giving Fuse plenty of opportunities to ambush his enemies.

Once players are caught with the ultimate blast radius, simply shoot them with a combination of Grenadier, Knuckle Cluster and standard gunfire. When timed correctly, the Motherlode can tear through even the most tank-like teams.

Fuse tips and tricks

1. Punish defending campers

Taking out defensive squads is easier than ever.

As with most FPS shooters, positioning is an integral part of your survival. This feeling is especially true when playing as Fuse. While his kit may be geared for aggressive play, you need to choose your fights carefully. Therefore, try to constantly look for indoor combat, where you can use both Fuse’s Grenadier passive and Knuckle Cluster.

After all, it can be frustrating with its abilities to hit mobile targets at a distance. Instead, it is often best to find squads that camp in buildings or sit together. Fuse’s passive Grenadier can also be used to hit squads that would otherwise be hard to hit. For example, Rampart’s Amped Cover can be immediately bypassed with a well-aimed Grenadier hit.

Meanwhile, if you suspect enemy players are camping in a nearby building, just fire a grenade at a nearby wall and watch it ricochet off the wall. If you see damage figures, chances are there is a team ready to ambush you. If you constantly think about how to use your environment to your advantage, you’ll land more deadly explosives.

2. Combine the ultimates of your team

Fuse’s Motherlode is best combined with other AoE ultimates.

This point may seem incredibly simple, but most teams often fail, especially when playing with randoms. However, a well-timed ultimate combo can wipe out even the most deadly squads. Consider combining Fuse’s Ultimate with the added slow and AoE damage of Caustic’s Nox gas grenade, while Gibraltar’s Defensive Bombardment rains explosive terror from above.

While Fuse’s Ultimate can be used on its own, its effectiveness is greatly improved when combined with other AoE skills. It’s important to note that Wattson’s Interception Pylon completely counteracts Fuse’s ult, so try to provoke it or just wait a while before using it.

3. Refill grenades constantly

You have to pack a lot of grenades.

It can be easy to forget how many explosives you have in your inventory, especially if you’re not used to sucking up every grenade you come across. However, you should make it a habit if you want to increase your killing potential. Make sure to get into the habit of replenishing your explosives after every kill and keep a few for the late game circles.

After all, Fuse’s Grenadier ability can give you the upper hand in scenarios where you have to attack an enemy-controlled building. Grenadier can also be used to deny entry into certain areas, while also serving as quite a distraction if your squad needs to move.

4. Best Legends to Team Up with Fuse

Fuse certainly brings the heat to many a firefight.

Fuse works well with many Apex Legends characters due to the simplistic nature of its kit. The Explosive Enthusiast ultimate works particularly well with Gibraltar and Caustic, but there are a few other Legends that Fuse works well with as well.

Loba’s Black Market, for example, allows Fuse to instantly replenish his grenades, while Horizon Ultimate brings enemies together, making Motherlode even more devastating. Try to experiment and see what deadly combinations you can come up with.

If you follow these Fuse tips and tricks, you can secure more explosive kills in no time. Make sure to follow @RTLnews for all the latest Apex Legends news and updates.
