Trent Reznor has spoken out against former co-worker and boyfriend Marilyn Manson after allegations against Manson by his former fiancé Evan Rachel Wood.
Reznor, who had previously rebuked the goth rocker, again vehemently denied a claim in Manson’s 1998 autobiography, “The Long Hard Road Out of Hell,” that Manson and Reznor assaulted a drunk woman physically and sexually in the 1990s.
“Over the years I have spoken about my dislike of Manson as a person and severed ties with him nearly 25 years ago. As I said at the time, the passage from Manson’s memoir is a complete fabrication, ”said Reznor, 55, in a statement to Pitchfork. “I was furious and insulted back when it came out and I still am today.”
In 2009, Nine Inch Nails frontman also described Manson as a “dumb clown” in an interview with Mojo.
“He’s an evil man and will step on everyone’s face to succeed and cross every decent line,” said Reznor of his former protégé. “Seeing him now, drugs and alcohol rule his life and he’s become a stupid clown.”
After allegations of abuse from Wood and other women this week, Manson’s record label dropped him.
The 52-year-old musician ‘Sweet Dreams’ denied the women’s claims on Instagram, writing,’ My intimate relationships have always been completely consistent with like-minded partners. No matter how – and why – others choose now to misrepresent the past, that’s the truth. “
Meanwhile, agents swarmed to Manson’s LA home late Wednesday after receiving a call requesting a welfare check from him. A representative later assured agents that Manson – whose real name is Brian Warner – was okay and just didn’t want to get out of the house because of the media presence.
