MLB The Show doesn’t just pay tribute to Robinson’s legacy by putting him on the cover of the game. PlayStation will also donate $ 1 to the Jackie Robinson Foundation for every MLB The Show 21 Collector’s Edition sold in the US through the end of the year.

You can now pre-order the Jackie Robinson edition of MLB The Show 21, as well as the regular edition of the game, which features Padres phenomenon Fernando Tatis Jr. on the cover.

Pre-orders of the Jackie Robinson Edition include four days of early access to the game starting April 16 – the day after MLB’s annual Jackie Robinson Day celebration.

With donations from MLB The Show 21 Collector’s Editions, the Jackie Robinson Foundation – founded by Robinson’s wife Rachel in 1973 – will set up the JRF MLB The Show Scholars program in partnership with PlayStation.

Scholars in the JRF MLB The Show Scholars Program receive four-year scholarships and support services such as career guidance and internship placement. More information about the Jackie Robinson Foundation programs is available here, and more information on how to apply for a JRF MLB The Show Scholar will be announced in November.

MLB The Show’s announcement of the Jackie Robinson Edition of the game on Wednesday comes three days after Robinson’s birthday – he is said to have been 102 on January 31 – and as the US celebrates Black History Month.
