The Twins have agreed to a one-year $ 6.25 million deal with Veteran Reliever Alex Colomé, a source told MLB.com’s Mark Feinsand. The club has not confirmed the deal.

Colomé will be paid $ 5 million in 2021 with a reciprocal option of $ 5.5 million in 2022 or a buyout of $ 1.25 million, a source told Feinsand.

32-year-old Colomé could step into the closer role for Minnesota after Taylor Rogers and Sergio Romo split the closure of their duties in 2020. Rogers stays with the club, but Romo is a free agent.

Colomé recorded an 0.81 ERA last season with a 0.94 WHIP and 12 saves in 22 1/3 innings for the White Sox, who signed closer Liam Hendriks for a four-year deal. Right-handed Colomé has made 138 saves since the start of 2016, placing him third in the MLB in that period behind Kenley Jansen and Edwin Díaz.

Over eight big league-seasons with the Rays, Mariners and White Sox, Colomé has registered a 2.95 ERA with 385 strikeouts and 140 walks in 424 innings.
