Cristina Mariel Ríos, the first Miss Earth Puerto Rico 2021 finalist, has won the title of title since yesterday, following the departure of Valerie Vigoreaux, who did not reach an agreement with the directors of the competition.
Ríos, 19, who represented the city of San Sebastián, studies environmental technology with a concentration in environmental chemistry.
Vigoreaux, for her part, was crowned in November 2020 in a virtual ceremony along with 12 other candidates and refrained from signing the contractual agreement, so her government ended on January 29 and the organization decided to elect a new representative.

“As with any competition, there are agreements to be made if there is a winner and no contractual agreement can be reached. So the organization has to choose a new queen, ”says Jobenny Rivera, a relationship officer for the local franchise, chaired by Vanessa De Roide and Joe Ahmed.
As for the clauses with which the Beauty disagreed, he assured that “they are internal details that cannot be deepened out of respect for the organization and Valerie.”
Managers also don’t want to label the issue as a layoff.
“We wouldn’t give it a title because the subject is sensitive and the organization doesn’t want there to be any kind of damage. Rather, it is a sequential order, there are processes to be followed and in this case this agreement could not be reached ”, emphasized Rivera THE SPOKESMAN.
Meanwhile, the departing queen also expressed her feelings.
“With the best of courage, I make it clear that my determination to leave the competition is due to the inability to formalize a final agreement with the directors. The agreements, verbal agreements and statements between the parties could not be formalized for the benefit of all parties involved, ”the young woman said in a statement on her Instagram account, before wishing the organization and its successor success.
As expected, the new queen has a deep commitment to promoting the care of natural resources and has already begun her preparation for the international competition.
