Google CEO Sundar Pichai on Wednesday congratulated Jeff Bezos and his successor Andy Jassy on their new roles after Amazon founder announced his decision to step aside as CEO of the company later this year.
Mr. Bezos said he will transition to the role of executive chairman in the third quarter and transfer the role of CEO to Andy Jassy, head of Amazon Web Services.
The Indian-American CEO also sent his best wishes to two of the outgoing Amazon CEO’s passion projects – the Day 1 Fund and the Bezos Earth Fund.

Mr. Bezos said in a letter to Amazon employees that he “would remain involved in major Amazon initiatives,” but would focus on philanthropic initiatives, including his Day One Fund and Bezos Earth Fund, and other business ventures in space exploration and journalism .
Top executives and prominent figures at other major companies around the world have congratulated Bezos and Jassy via Twitter.
Satya Nadella, Microsoft CEO, who noted Mr. Jassy’s achievements, said, “a well-deserved acknowledgment of what you have achieved”.

Marc Benioff, Salesforce CEO, also took to Twitter to say Amazon “couldn’t be in better hands.”

Mr. Bezos, 57, founded Amazon in his garage in 1994 and it grew into a colossus that dominates the online retail industry, with activities in music and television streaming, grocery shopping, cloud computing, robotics, artificial intelligence and Lake.
Mr. Jassy joined Amazon as a marketing manager in 1997 and founded AWS in 2003, the cloud services division of the company that was one of the technology giant’s most profitable but least known units.
