(CNN) – Dolly Parton, 75, is eligible to be vaccinated against COVID-19 but has not yet received a vaccine, she told CNN, even though she has donated $ 1 million towards vaccine development.
“But I’ll get it,” he said on Thursday. I didn’t want to skip my turn. I didn’t donate the money to protect myself, but to protect us all.
In his quintessential style, Parton gave the seven-figure amount to finance part of the creation of the modern vaccine.
It was a side effort by the country music legend, similar to another project Parton talked to CNN about: reworking his famous track “9 to 5” to “5 to 9” for website creation and the Super Ad. Bowl of the e-commerce platform Squarespace.
Shopping centers basically focus on how many people have side jobs and come outside of normal business hours.
I thought why not? he said about adapting the lyrics of one of his classics. “You know, everyone knows the number for what it is, but like me, a lot of people work all the time from 9 to 5 and 5 to 9.”
Parton sings the new song in the Super Bowl commercial, which was directed by Academy Award winner Damien Chazelle and choreographed by Tony Award winner Justin Peck.
The singer is excited about the upcoming Super Bowl ad, but objected to the idea that she would be an artist for the halftime show.
Years ago, Katy Perry wanted Parton to appear with her when she performed in the Super Bowl, but Parton couldn’t because her husband was in poor health at the time. Being a part-time interpreter takes a lot of work, Parton said, and more stress than she’d like, though she’s not entirely against it.
“It’s always been a little bit more busy than I’ve wanted to do over the years to do everything on my own, but I’m sure I will eventually,” she said.
One thing Parton isn’t a fan of is a proposal to erect a statue in his honor in the capital of his home state of Tennessee.
Although he was honored and flattered that people wanted to pay tribute to him, Parton said, “I personally don’t want that. I think it’s something that can be done after I die.
There is also something else she has passed on.
Parton declined when the Trump administration twice presented him with the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the nation’s highest civilian honor, he recently told NBC’s “Today” show.
“I couldn’t accept it because my husband was sick, then they asked me again and I didn’t travel because of the covid,” she said.
Since then, Parton has heard from the Biden administration about receiving the award, but “now I feel like I’m going into politics so I’m not sure,” said the singer.
Former President Barack Obama wished he had given Parton credit while in office, he said on “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert in December.”
