According to the head of the Russian space agency, Dmitri Rogozin, Moscow will not participate “in a moon race” until it “understands the meaning of the prize fund”.
Russia is not participating “in a lunar race” and has its own exploration program for Earth’s natural satellite, which is several times cheaper than the US one, Dmitri Rogozin, general manager of the Russian space agency Roscosmos, said Tuesday.
“We have our own moon program, which is ten times cheaper than the American one, but will produce no less important results for our scientists, ” the head of the state-owned company wrote on his Telegram channel. In science, when resources are less, “we need to prioritize and take shortcuts instead of following the leader with a cowboy hat who doesn’t know why or what where it’s going,” he added.

Rogozin recalled his negotiations with NASA and US politicians, who, he said, “can’t even explain to themselves why they had to return to the moon.”
“To my simple question [entonces] director of NASA, [Jim] Bridenstine – “When you land on the lunar surface again, you show that you have finally reached the capabilities of your own technologies from 70 years ago” – Jim sighed deeply, “said the director of Roscosmos.
In this regard, Rogozin added that Russia will not participate “in a moon race” until it “understands the meaning of the prize money”.
