TV host / comedian Adam Conover has revealed that a live-action Legend of Zelda Netflix series was in production, before it was canceled due to leaks.
You can see the full interview with Conover in the video below from The Serf Times. At around 39 minutes, Conover reveals that a live action Legend of Zelda TV series was in production on Netflix around 2014, while Conover was working on a claymation Star Fox adaptation for College Humor, which was supported by Shigeru Miyamoto.
However, the comedian reveals that the Legend of Zelda project has been canceled at Netflix due to leaks that upset Nintendo. Conover suspects someone within Netflix has leaked the Legend of Zelda adaptation, causing Nintendo to cancel a series of projects, including the Zelda adaptation and Star Fox claymation shows.
The Legend of Zelda on Netflix has been circulating for an incredibly long time, and rumors about the project have been circulating since 2014, when Conover claims the show was in production. It’s unfortunate that the project was eventually canceled, but with the rise of animated adaptations on Netflix, such as Castlevania and Resident Evil, who says Nintendo couldn’t rethink returning to the abandoned project?
2021 certainly promises to be a big year for The Legend of Zelda. Yesterday, a retailer may have leaked the release date of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild sequel as Q2 2021, although Nintendo warned in September 2020 that the mysterious follow-up would remain “a little longer” a mystery. After all, this year marks the 35th anniversary of Nintendo’s franchise, so fans are definitely expecting big festivities for the series.
