Mets trades for Jordan Yamamoto from Marlins

The Mets took over right-handed Jordan Yamamoto from the Marlins on Monday in exchange for infielder Dominican prospect Federico Polanco.

Yamamoto, 24, was 4-5 with a 4.46 ERA and 82 strikeouts in 15 starts for the Fish in 2019. The righthanded was third in the majors, controlling opponents to a .191 average and 6.18 hits per every nine innings behind Justin Verlander ( .172, 5.53) and Gerrit Cole (.186, 6.02).

In 2020, Yamamoto was 0-1 in four appearances (three as a starter) in 11.1 innings. In his two-year career in the majors, he is 4-6 with 81 hits in 90 innings.

Polanco, 19, hits .244 with 20 doubles and 50 RBI’s in two minor league seasons.
