Devin Booker knew he’d hit a go-ahead three-point jumper as soon as the ball left his outstretched right hand on Monday night.
Booker, who finished the evening with 24 points in his first game back after a four-game absence due to injury, would prove right in his assessment.
That jump shot gave the Suns a 109-108 lead over the hometown of Dallas Mavericks with 1.5 seconds left in regulation.
Booker’s shot would be the game-winning basket, as that same score would make the Suns their second win in three days over the Mavericks.
The shooting guard’s winning jumper concluded a 9-for-19 shooting feat that helped the Suns make several comebacks during the final quarter of the match.
Booker closed Monday’s game with four three-pointers on eight tries and joined fellow guard Chris Paul in hitting a quartet of shots from behind the arch in the win.
Booker’s late-game exploits helped the Suns break their record for the year to 11-8, ending the two teams’ streak of three games for the season.
It all came to its dramatic conclusion with a balanced shot that just cleared the outstretched arms of Mavericks’ guard Josh Richardson.
It was a shot that only just hit, giving Suns fans a reason to celebrate on Monday night.
