Microsoft announced a revamp of its Office Lens app this morning, rebranding the document scanning application as Microsoft Lens. The brand changes in particular come with a new Fluent Design icon and many new dynamic capabilities for Android and iOS devices.
The first change the company has highlighted today is the addition of new intelligent productivity features to the camera. The list contains Image to Table, Image to Text, Immersive Reader, Image to Contact and QR Code Scan. In addition, the company noted that it also improves the scanning experience for mobile users.
“We are releasing an improved scanning experience, allowing you to reorder pages, re-edit scanned PDFs, apply a filter to all images in the document, scan up to 100 pages as images or PDFs, easily switch between local and cloud locations while storing PDFs and an easy way to identify local and cloud files, ”the company explains.
Microsoft says these changes should make it easier for users to work seamlessly on their documents, photos, and videos across several Microsoft 365 mobile apps, such as Office, Teams, Outlook, and the OneDrive storage service.
Keep in mind that these new features and improvements are only available to Android users for now, and the iOS app will follow in the coming months. In case you missed it, the company removed Office Lens from the Microsoft Store last month, but it’s still available and fully functional on iOS and Android. You can download the latest version of the app today from Google Play or the App Store from the links below.
