Former President and National Assembly candidate for Fuerza Ecuador (FE) List 10, Abdalá Bucaram, left the party’s presidential candidate, Carlos Sagnay de la Bastida, asking to vote for other candidates.
This was said during a broadcast on his Facebook account this Sunday evening.
“For the President of the Republic, vote for everyone and this is a dignified and honorable attitude, because Mr Sagnay who we launched has declared himself independent (…) For the President, if you vote for (Andrés) Arauz, then vote for Arauz, ”he said.
The candidate for the Union for Hope alliance, List 1, responded to his listing, saying, “Oops, guácala!”

According to Bucaram, when Sagnay talks about corruption, he “washes his hands” and does not defend the leader of the political party.
This newspaper spoke to Sagnay and clarified several points raised by Bucaram. He said he has not declared himself independent: “I am an independent politician. I am not an independent candidate, I am the presidential candidate of Fuerza Ecuador and whatever Mr Bucaram says is wrong,” he said.
In addition, he said he does not have to defend Bucaram. “I have more credibility than he and that is unquestionable … I don’t have to wash my hands, my life is clean, exemplary. I have no obligations. He wants me to defend him, I think he must be lost. attorney, I don’t have the evidence to defend him or anyone, ”he said.
Sagnay said he defended it, but in general terms, such as media lynching. However, he stressed that in anything special (corruption cases) it won’t do this.
The presidential candidate said he is not a friend of Bucaram and that he has known him since October last year when he proposed to run. He considered these statements out of desperation. “When somebody does things like that, it looks like they’re desperate. I’m calm and done my campaign well,” he said.
Carlos Sagnay de la Bastida, 64-year-old engineer and administrator, said he has not had any dialogue with Bucaram so far and claimed it was right to contact him first.
Vote for another candidate
Bucaram said last night that if the president of the republic would vote for everyone and for Sagnay there would be interests.
“There is speculation from people, they think and say he could have had a conversation, some interest. I don’t know. I haven’t had a fight with him, no conversation, if he had misinterpreted something it would have been right was for me to call (…) If he made the decision to go from province to province and say they vote for someone, but for a representative for Abdalá, he will know why he said it (.. .) but the subliminal thing is they vote for one person, ”he said.
Bucaram said in his speech: “For the president of the republic, vote for all (…) For the president if you vote for (Andrés) Arauz, vote for Arauz”.
Sagnay viewed these claims as divisive. However, he indicated that he would continue his political campaign. (I)
