Sega brings Judgment, the Yakuza team’s murder mystery action adventure to PlayStation 5, Stadia and Xbox Series X on April 23. The remastered version of Judgment includes refined visuals, a frame rate of 60 frames per second and improved loading times, Sega says – plus it includes all previously released downloadable content. Sega’s reissue of Judgment costs $ 39.99.
Judgment was originally released exclusively for PlayStation 4. Yakuza developer Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio first released the game in Japan, with a worldwide release in June 2019.
A spin-off from the Yakuza series, Judgment stars Takayuki Yagami, a disgraced lawyer turned gray private investigator trying to solve the mystery behind a string of murders. He joins him in his quest, the former yakuza Masaharu Kaito. The duo investigate Kamurocho’s underground and fight its criminal element in search of the truth. Like the Yakuza games, you can expect a lot of street fighting, as well as investigative gameplay, side missions and mini games.
We had words of praise in our review of the game Judgment for building something new on the structure of the familiar gameplay of the Yakuza series. “It doesn’t deviate from its roots – it is still a crime drama with a lot of blemishes – but it fills the story of the city and its people in a way that is not possible with a game that focuses solely on the criminal underworld,” we said. “This is the same city, only seen from a completely different perspective.”
