Texas police chief arrested for forging divorce certificate to marry lover

A Texas police chief accused of cheating on his wife with two women, who apparently didn’t know the other, resigned after being arrested on suspicion of falsifying a marriage annulment to one of the bridesauthorities said.

The City of Stinnett, United States, announced the chief’s resignation Jason Collier “Effective immediately,” said a statement released Thursday.

Collier, 41, was arrested Thursday in an investigation into “Modification of a government record with the intention of defrauding”, That’s a felony, said Sergeant Cindy Barkley of the Texas Department of Public Safety.

“Collier has reportedly texted the victim with a fraudulent government file attached,” Barkley said. “The document was a fraudulent marriage annulment.”

The Texas Rangers opened a criminal investigation Tuesday at the request of the Hutchinson County District Attorney’s Office, Barkley said.

Cecily Steinmetz of Amarillo, Texas, told a Facebook post on January 26 that she had been Collier’s girlfriend until the day before, when she said she found out “Boss Jason Collier lives a double / triple life.”

He lied to me and presented me with false annulment when I found out he was married “Steinmetz wrote on his personal profile. “I also heard about a second girlfriend, ‘Kristi’ last night. He lied to us, our children, and asked us both to marry him”.

She said she had returned from a trip with Collier to Taos, New Mexico on Sunday, and told “his other girlfriend” that she had a job in Portland, Oregon, as an alibi for taking the trip with Steinmetz.

“He is a bad representative of his city”, Steinmetz said on Facebook, to the residents of Stinnett. “He also visited me in Amarillo when he was on duty.”

Amarillo is an hour’s drive south of Stinnett. Collier has not yet commented on the allegations against him.

According to Sergeant Barkley, the bail for the chief of police was set at $ 10,000.

“The investigation is ongoing and no more information is available”, Barkley said.
