Buccaneers ‘defensive coordinator, Todd Bowles, spent four seasons as the Jets’ head coach before being fired with a record of 24-40, but said the lack of success did not make him question his abilities as a coach.

Bowles said he knew he was a good coach and that “you just keep marching forward” in the face of those who think otherwise. A lot of people have praised Bowles again when the Buccaneers moved to the top of the NFC this year, but Bowles insists he shocked him no more than the criticism.

“I don’t feel any redemption,” Bowles said through Brian Costello of the New York Post. ‘I am harder on myself than anyone else. If you don’t win games, you will be criticized. In this sport there will be ups and downs. You have to stay on track and stay who you are. You trust your coaching and the people who taught you. I stayed with that and everything worked out for me. “

Bowles had a few head coach talks before all the jobs in this cycle were filled and said he would “like to get that chance again,” but all his focus is on stopping the Chiefs for now.
