As Sony PlayStation 5 offerings are still fairly sparse around the world, gamers in Tokyo have seized a recent opportunity to get their hands on the next-gen console.
Earlier this week, Akihabara’s Yodobashi Camera received a large shipment of PS5s that caused chaos upon release. Being one of the largest electronics retailers in Japan, its sale fetched an estimated 300 first-come, first-served tickets for a chance to buy a PS5. With many people also joining the madness as Yodobashi Camera’s Akihabara location does not require customers to hold their black credit card to buy the console, a requirement created to ban resellers.
The crowd that gathered at the site began to push and shove, forcing checkouts and staff to back down. In the end, the local police were called and canceled the sale due to the aggressive nature that broke out during the state of emergency due to the Coronavirus enacted by the Japanese government.

They canceled the sale because people were crazy !! Pushed so hard that even the cash registers and staff declined. I’ve never seen such madness in Japan …
