Miami Heat’s Tyler Herro may be quarantined after roommate tests positive for COVID-19

Miami Heat Guard Tyler Herro revealed after a 105-104 victory over the Sacramento Kings on Saturday night that he heard a roommate tested positive for COVID-19

Herro said he got that news halfway through and was unsure whether he should be quarantined due to potential exposure. His revelation came on the same night that All-Star forward Jimmy Butler returned after missing 10 games due to the NBA’s health and safety protocols set up for play it safe during the coronavirus pandemic. Butler scored a season-high 30 points after missing 12 of Miami’s 18 games due to virus-related issues, when the Heat ended a five-game loss streak.

The Heat also didn’t play against Kendrick Nunn on Saturday as he was waiting for a COVID-19 test result when the game started. Nunn was released by the second quarter and could have played, but Heat coach Erik Spoelstra chose not to use him.

“We were waiting for his test results,” said Spoelstra, as quoted by the South Florida Sun Sentinel. “At the time, he wasn’t available in the first quarter, so I went in a different direction … It’s just one of those unfortunate things. I think if things like that happen, it’s going to happen to us.”

Herro had 15 points and three assists for the Heat, who were also without Goran Dragic and used their 14th line-up in 19 games this season.
