French President Emmanuel Macron has decided not to lock France for the third time, as the country registers more than 24,000 new infections every day.
From Sunday, France will close its borders to all non-essential travelers outside the European Union. Those traveling within the EU must present a negative coronavirus test before re-entering.
But Macron stopped ordering all companies to close.
“I have faith in us. These hours we go through are crucial. Let’s do everything we can to slow the epidemic together, ” he tweeted on Saturday.
France reported 24,393 additional positive COVID-19 tests on Friday.
A recent poll showed growing frustration with the introduction of vaccines there, and the widespread belief that another lockdown was inevitable. On Saturday, only 1.45 million doses of the COVID-19 vaccine had been administered. In comparison, Israel had controlled 3.5 million a week earlier.
