WallStreetBets founder says GameStop stock market frenzy is like a ‘train wreck happening in real time’

The guy who made Reddit’s WallStreetBets isn’t who you think he is.

He is 39 years old. He lives in Mexico City with his wife, a doctor, and spends his weeks chasing their 3-year-old twins and taking care of his day job as a consultant – hardly the kind of character you could associate with the churning investment forum .

He never thought the Reddit community he created in 2012 would turn into a force so powerful that GameStop Corp. GME,
+ 67.87%
stocks in overdrive, nearly toppling a hedge fund and leaving professional money managers across the country staring at Twitter with open mouths.

“It’s a bit like watching one of those horror movies where you see the villain slowly going up the stairs,” said Jaime Rogozinski. “You can see this train wreck happening in real time.”
