Processing facilities
This wastewater system and impulse pipeline were constructed with an investment of more than 320 million pesos.
It was established as a result of a cooperation agreement of the Ministry of Tourism, for the collection and remediation of municipal wastewater, for the benefit of a population of more than 20,000 inhabitants.
The project includes the collection network for the sanitary sewage system, two pumping stations and the wastewater treatment plant for anaerobic biological processes.
Abinader recalled that during his election campaign he also announced the formation of a major national plan to provide drinking water to all communities in the national territory that lacked the service, but added that the implementation plan would require more than one period.
The change is real. The current drinking water situation is unacceptable and we are not prepared to continue to oppose this situation, ”he said.
The president recalled that 80% of the water generated in the country is lost and 50% of the population does not receive it.
He said the National Plan for Water, to be developed by the government, will have the participation of all social and political sectors of the country.
“From the government, we are implementing a series of infrastructures and reforms across the country that will reverse the inherited situation and provide a definitive solution to a problem that should have been resolved long ago,” he added.
The plant collects waste water from the community, tourist hotels and sectors of the municipality of Luperón by means of gravity, up to two pumping stations, and from there it is sent to the treatment plant located two kilometers from the pumping station.
It consists of a collection network with 8 and 12-inch PVC pipes, SDR-26, and the collected waste water is sent to the treatment plant where it is treated.
