Rep. Wants AOC’s apology for Ted Cruz ‘almost had me killed’ tweet

Texas Republican Representative Chip Roy asks House Speaker Nancy Pelosi to step in and Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez to apologize for tweeting that Senator Ted Cruz “ almost had me killed ” during the uprising at the Capitol.

Roy wrote to Pelosi (D-Calif.) Thursday that the 31-year-old Democrat, who represents parts of the Bronx and Queens, has to say she’s sorry.

“[S]he essentially charged Senator Ted Cruz with attempted murder, ”Roy wrote.

“As a member of this body who disagreed with ‘objections’ to the voters and who has publicly expressed my concern about the events leading up to January 6, it is completely unacceptable for any member of Congress to have this kind of disgraceful make allegations against another. member of the House or Senate because he only engaged in speeches and debates about voters as they interpreted the constitution. “

Roy continued, “I ask you to call her to apologize immediately and withdraw her comments. If Representative Ocasio-Cortez does not immediately apologize, we will be forced to find alternative means to condemn this regrettable statement. “

Spokespersons for Ocasio-Cortez, commonly known as AOC, and Pelosi did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

The acknowledged “ Democratic Socialist ” accused Cruz of being responsible for the violence that disrupted President Biden’s certification of victory because the Texan objected to Arizona’s voters, citing federal court rulings calling for a final registration deadline for voters and push for a national check on voter fraud.

She tweeted to Cruz on Thursday after he offered an olive branch of alliance against a possible government crackdown on small dollar investors waging war on hedge funds by buying GameStop stock.

AOC wrote“I’m happy to work with Republicans on this issue where there are common ground, but you almost had me killed 3 weeks ago so you can sort this out. Happy to work with almost any other GOP not trying to kill me. If you want to help out in the meantime, you can quit. “

Roy didn’t specify how Republicans could condemn AOC if she doesn’t say sorry.

Roy is known as an independent-minded and outspoken Republican. He has ignored Pelosi’s new metal detectors outside the room of the House, saying, “I will not obey.” He also condemned former President Donald Trump for his pre-riot speech on January 6, saying he “deserves universal condemnation for clearly what I believe was untouchable behavior.” But Roy was against an article of impeachment as written and did not join 10 House Republicans who voted against Trump.
