The ex-soccer player Luis Cruz, which was a World Cup with the Honduras National Team, was buried this Thursday in Pimienta, Cortés, after he passed away from the coronavirus on Wednesday.

At around 10:30 in the morning, they said goodbye to the former Motagua defender, as well as Real España, Atlético Morazán and Universidad.

The one who was considered one of the best defenders in Honduran football history was joined at his funeral by his wife Juanita Yanes de Cruz and his three children Jenny, José Luis and Ingrid Carolina.

Surrounded by the affection of the people of Pimenta who supported the family members, respecting all biosecurity measures.

Luis Cruz lost the fight against COVID-19 after becoming infected while on vacation to Honduras from the United States, where he lived in New Orleans. He was admitted to Leonardo Martínez Hospital for almost a month and died there at the age of 68.

Cruz took part with Honduras in the 1982 World Cup in Spain, in that championship he played the game against Northern Ireland which ended with a 1-1 draw.

In the National League, he played more than 340 games and won two titles, one with Motagua and the other with Real España.
